Elaine Ruth Holliday, 87, of Simpsonville, SC (long time resident of Janesville, WI) passed away on Friday morning January 24, 2014 at The Springs of Simpsonville. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on September 1st, 1926, the daughter of Edgar and Della Meissner. Elaine enjoyed a 20 year career as a member of the Janesville Police Department, ending her career as the Executive Secretary to the Chief of Police. She married the love of her life – Rolland “Bud” Holliday, her sole mate for 66 years, on January 26, 1946. Bud preceded her in death in April 2012. Elaine with husband “Bud” – were active members of Cargill United Methodist Church, spending many years as leaders of the Methodist Youth Fellowship Group that their (3) children were actively involved and working at Cargill’s food stand at the Rock County Fair. Elaine enjoyed her bridge club friendships, as well reading, cooking, canning and especially family camping. In their retirement years they enjoyed traveling in their RV and wintering in Florida.

Surviving family members of Elaine include her (3) children, Victoria (Jim) Buehl of Simpsonville, SC; Mike (Jan) Holliday of Westerville, OH; John (Ilo) Holliday of Meridian, MS. Elaine was a loving Grandmother to (9) precious grandchildren – Stephanie Andres, Stacey (Matt) Moseley, Brett (Sara) Buehl, Ryan Holliday, Nick (Haylie) Holliday, Jason Holliday, Allyson Holliday, Heather Holliday, David Holliday; and a loving Great Grandmother to (7) wonderful great grand children, Madeleine, Morgan, Ella Moseley; Leyton and Kennedy Andres; Alex Holliday, Evelyn Buehl. Elaine was preceded in death by great grand-daughter Kate Buehl, her parents, sister Faith and brother Arthur.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 30th at Cargill United Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville, Wisconsin. Reverend Forrest  R. Wells will officiate. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2 pm on Thursday immediately prior to the funeral service at the church.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Cargill United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd. Janesville, WI.
